Parliament House excursions

The NT Electoral Commission (NTEC) and Parliamentary Education Services (PES) offer a joint program for teachers who want to organise a visit to Parliament House as a learning experience for their students when teaching the civics and citizenship curriculum. By booking this joint program you are eligible for funding to cover the total cost of your bus transport which should result in the excursion being completely free for your students. This funding is provided by the NTEC.

The joint program incorporates:

  • a one hour tour of Parliament House. This includes time to watch parliament live from the gallery (on sitting day) or tour inside the Chamber (on a non-sitting day)
  • a forty-five minute electoral education session tailored to your year group, including a mock election and vote count (see School programs by year group for session content)
  • a short break in between.

COVID-19 update: Parliament House is currently not accepting school group bookings due to social distancing restrictions. However, Parliamentary Education Services and the NT Electoral Commission can still visit schools and run free educational programs in the classroom instead.

To book this joint program please contact PES on 8946 1414 or email You do not need to make a separate booking with the NTEC as PES will make all arrangements. They will also provide further information on how to utilise the bus funding provided by the NTEC.
