If you attend a voting centre outside your council area, you can cast an absent vote which is placed in an envelope and counted after election day.
You can vote in person at an early voting centre before election day. Many early voting centres are set-up throughout the Territory for an election.
Early voting centres are advertised on the website, in newspapers and on social media.
Election day voting
Voting centres on election day open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Voting centres are advertised on the website, in newspapers and on social media.
Mobile voting (remote and urban)
Voting teams visit remote locations by road, air and sea. Teams operate during the 10 days before and on election day.
Urban and remote voting locations are advertised on the website, in newspapers and on social media. Posters are also displayed in selected locations.
Urban voting teams are appointed to visit hospitals, nursing homes, aged care facilities and prisons. The electoral commissioner may determine other locations as suitable (for example, town camps).
You have the option of applying for postal ballot papers to be sent to your nominated address. Applications for local government elections can be made within the 3-month period before election day.
