The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) maintains the electoral roll in the Northern Territory. When your details are updated, an acknowledgment letter is mailed to you. This letter is proof of your enrolment and shows your federal division, your NT Legislative Assembly division and your NT Local Government (Council) area.
NOTE: You only need to complete the one form to enrol yourself for all levels of government in the Northern Territory.
Eligibility for enrolment
Direct enrolment and update
Laws passed by the Australian Parliament allow the AEC to directly enrol you or update your details on the electoral roll based on information from other government agencies. Direct enrolment and update does not affect everyone. Therefore it's important you maintain your electoral enrolment details each time you move.
It's easy, and only takes a few minutes.
To enrol you need to provide evidence of your identity.
You can use the following:
- Australian driver's licence
- Australian passport
- A person who is on the electoral roll and can confirm your identity.
You can print an enrolment form or pick one up at any Australia Post outlet or an electoral commission office.
Return your hardcopy form by:
