The election timetable is now available the 2025 Local Government Supplementary elections.
Six supplementary elections will be held for 5 local government councils following the 2025 Local Government Elections.
The supplementary elections are required to fill the 6 remaining vacancies following the 2025 Local Government elections, where there were insufficient candidates for the number of vacancies in the following council wards:

Key dates for the supplementary election
- Candidate nominations open: Friday 17 October 2025
- Candidate nominations close: Thursday 6 November 2025 (12 noon)
- Declaration of candidate nominations: Friday 7 November 2025 (12 noon)
- Early voting and remote mobile voting will commence: Monday 17 November 2025
- Election Day: Saturday 29 November 2025
- Declaration of Election Results: Monday 15 December (10am)
Postal vote applications for the supplementary elections are now open.
It is a requirement that the electoral roll used for the 2025 Local Government Elections is used for the supplementary elections, the close of roll was 22 July 2025.
Electors for the supplementary elections must be enrolled or have an entitlement to vote at the close of roll.
The NT Electoral Commission is working with councils to finalise voting schedules, logistics and communications for the supplementary elections.
