The NT Electoral Commission has today declared candidates for the Groote Archipelago Regional Council Election.

Candidate nominations for the Groote Archipelago Regional Council (GARC) General Election are now open.  Elections will be held to elect 7 councillors across 3 wards.

The Groote Archipelago Regional Council (GARC) general election has been announced, with 7 councillor vacancies across 3 new wards to be filled.

The NT Electoral Commission officially declared the results for the 2024 Barkly Regional Council general election at 10am this morning. 

Elections were held for the position of mayor and councillor positions in the Patta, Alpurrurulam and Kuwarrangu Wards.

Counting for the 2025 Barkly Regional Council general election concluded today.

89 postal votes returned to the Electoral Commission before 12.00noon today were included in the count with the initial results for these counts published on the NTEC website.

Counting in the 2024 Barkly Regional Council general election has finished for the night.

An initial count including early votes, remote mobile votes and election day votes have been counted this evening.

Today is election day and the last day to vote in the 2024 Barkly Regional Council general election. Voting is compulsory.

Early voting is available at the Tennant Creek Civic Centre from 8:00am to 6:00pm today.

Voting is compulsory in all government elections in the Northern Territory. The penalty for not voting in Territory elections is $25.

The Northern Territory Electoral Commission has this week commenced sending 21,000 apparent failure to vote infringement notices to Territorians who did not vote at the 2024 Territory Election.

The electoral expenditure return for the period from 1 January 2024 to 23 September 2024 was due on 23 October 2024.
