Offences and penalties

The NT Electoral Commission is responsible for administering and enforcing the Electoral Act 2004, which includes penalties that may apply to registered political parties, associated entities, candidates, third-party campaigners, media and publishers who breach their obligations.

Note these stakeholders may also be subject to laws enforced by other government agencies.

Stakeholders have a responsibility to ensure they are aware of their obligations within the Electoral Act 2004 and other government agencies.
