The 2026 Local Government Representation Review is an independent review of representation arrangements for all Northern Territory local government councils.

The review considers whether current representation arrangements continue to provide fair and effective representation for local communities, including the number of elected members and ward boundaries.

Community members, councils and stakeholders are encouraged to have their say throughout the consultation process.

The Local Government Representation Review Committee

The review is conducted by the independent Local Government Representation Review Committee under the Local Government Act 2019.

The committee comprises:

  • CEO, Local Government Association of the Northern Territory and Committee Chair
  • Northern Territory Electoral Commissioner
  • Surveyor-General of the Northern Territory.
