Positive start to early voting

Over the first 3 days of early voting more than 10,980 Territorians cast their vote.

There are over 130,000 Territorians  required to vote in the 2025 Local Government Elections elect their council representatives.

Six early voting centres are open across the Territory, operating from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays. Early voting is also available this Saturday 16 August from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly reminded voters that early voting is accessible to all enrolled Territorians: During early voting, voters  can visit any early voting centre across the Territory to cast their vote, on election day, however there are some restrictions on where you can vote if you are outside your council area. Territorians who have not yet voted in the 2025 Local Government Elections and are required to vote, should plan where to vote and vote.

Remote mobile voting commenced on Monday 11 August, with 13 remote mobile voting teams visiting 93 remote locations across the Northern Territory during the early voting period

The first mail out of postal votes occurred on Tuesday 5 August with over 5,207 posts votes issued to date. Postal vote applications are open till Thursday 21 August and voters unable to attend a voting centre are encouraged to apply now to ensure they receive their postal vote in time.

The final day to vote in the 2025 Local Government Elections is Saturday 23 August 2025.
