2026 City of Darwin Chan Ward By-election: Early voting centre now open

Early voting for the City of Darwin Chan Ward By-election commenced over the weekend with over 500 electors casting their vote at the Rapid Creek Business Village on Saturday 23 May.

The by-election is required to fill a single vacancy (councillor) in the Chan Ward which includes the suburbs of Ludmilla, East Point, Fannie Bay, Nightcliff, Coconut Grove, Millner, Rapid Creek and Jingili.

Early voting services continue to be available this week at Rapid Creek Business Village, Shop 29B, 48 Trower Road, Rapid Creek at the following times:

  • Monday 25 May - 8am to 5pm
  • Tuesday 26 May - 8am to 5pm
  • Wednesday 27 May - 8am to 5pm
  • Thursday 28 May - 8am to 7pm (extended hours)
  • Friday 29 May - 8am to 6pm (last day of early voting)

Election day voting

Election day voting services will be available on Saturday 30 May from 8am to 6pm in the Nightcliff High School Gymnasium, 90 Aralia Street, Nightcliff.

Mobile voting

Mobile voting services will be provided on Tuesday 26 May at the Darwin Private Hospital from 9am to 11am and at the Royal Darwin Hospital from 12:30pm to 3pm.

Apply for a postal vote

Postal vote applications are still open and close this Thursday 28 May.
