2026 Mulka by-election - Final week to vote in the Mulka by-election

Electors in Mulka have just one week left to vote in the Mulka by-election.

Voting is available at Nhulunbuy Town Hall and the NT Electoral Commission (NTEC) Darwin office, with remote voting services continuing across communities in the region.

As at Saturday, 5 September, 762 votes have been issued at Nhulunbuy Town Hall, 99 votes through remote mobile voting and 3 votes at the NTEC Darwin office.

114 postal votes have been issued. Postal votes must be completed by 6.00pm on election day and received by the NTEC by 12 noon on Friday 25 September. While postal vote applications remain open, electors are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and consider postal delivery timeframes relevant to their location.

19 declarations votes issued. A declaration vote is used when an elector’s eligibility cannot be confirmed at the time of voting. Each declaration vote is assessed after election day to verify enrolment and entitlement before it can be admitted to the count.

NTEC Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly encouraged eligible Mulka electors who have not yet voted to plan where they will vote this week.

'This is the final week of voting in the Mulka by-election, and we encourage all eligible electors who have not yet voted to make sure they have an opportunity to have their say,' Ms Kelly said.

'Voting services will continue across the region this week, including remote mobile voting in communities. Electors should check the latest voting schedule on the NTEC website, as changes to remote mobile voting services can occur.'
