2026 Nightcliff By-election: close of candidate nominations and draw for order on ballot paper

Nominations for the Nightcliff By-election close tomorrow, Thursday 19 February 2026 at 12pm. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

Following the close of nominations, the candidates for the Division of Nightcliff will be declared and a draw to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper will take place. The draw will be determined using a random number generator.

Candidates, media and members of the public are invited to attend the declaration of nominations event commencing at 1pm.

The declaration of nominations and draw to determine the candidate order on the ballot papers will proceed in alphabetical order. The draw will be conducted using a random number generator.

Those wishing to attend can do so via the following options:

• In-Person: NTEC, Level 3, TCG Centre, 80 Mitchell St, Darwin City
• Online Live Stream: Teams meeting

Media representatives wishing to attend are kindly asked to contact the NTEC Manager Public Awareness by 10am on Thursday 19 February.
