2026 Regional Council By-elections - June

By-elections are required to fill casual vacancies in the following Local Government Councils:

• Barkly Regional Council - Kuwarrangu Ward (1 Councillor vacancy)
• East Arnhem Regional Council - Gumurr Miwatj Ward (1 Councillor vacancy)
• Groote Archipelago Regional Council - West Ward (1 Councillor vacancy)
• Roper Gulf Regional Council - Yugul Mangi Ward (1 Councillor vacancy)

Voters and prospective candidates are encouraged to check or update their enrolment before the electoral roll closes Monday 25 May at 5pm.

Nominations are opening tomorrow, 21 May and close at noon on Wednesday 27 May. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

The declaration of candidates and draw for position on ballot paper will be held from 1pm on Wednesday 27 May. This is a public event and candidates, the media and members of the public are invited to attend in person at the NTEC office located in Darwin or online.
