2026 Regional Councils by-elections - June - Candidate nominations now open

In accordance with Regulation 6(2) Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2021, a public notice is provided.

By-elections are being held to fill casual vacancies in the following regional Councils:

• East Arnhem Regional Council - Gumurr Miwatj Ward (1 vacancy)
• Roper Gulf Regional Council - Yugul Mangi Ward (1 vacancy)
• Barkly Regional Council - Kuwarrangu Ward (1 vacancy)
• Groote Archipelago Regional Council - West Ward (1 vacancy)

Nominations

Nominations are now open. Completed candidate nomination forms must be received by NTEC by noon Wednesday 27 May. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

The Electoral Commissioner is the returning officer for the June 2026 Regional Councils by-elections.
