Donors

Review the requirements below for donors.

A person who has donated more than $1,500 of gifts to a candidate or a registered political party in a financial year must disclose this to NT Electoral Commission within 60 days after the end of the financial year.

Donors must maintain compliance with all legislated obligations under the Electoral Act 2004.

A donor is a person or entity that provides a gift (including gifts-in-kind) to an electoral participant. If a donor provides an aggregate of $1,500 or more to a candidate or party during a financial year, they must disclose this to NT Electoral Commission within 60 days after the end of the financial year.

An updated financial disclosure system was introduced in 2020 to ensure elections are transparent and free from external influence.

Donors must:

  • disclose gifts received, including non-monetary gifts (gifts-in-kind)
  • submit a financial disclosure returns for any financial year that they provide $1,500 or more to a candidate or party
  • maintain records.

Result will be made public as soon as practicable. Results are updated throughout the various stages of the count process on this website.

The NTEC makes a public declaration of election results on the Monday following the distribution of references.
