Remote engagement

The Remote Community Engagement Program is an initiative by the NT Electoral Commission (NTEC) aimed at raising awareness of the 2024 Territory Election in remote communities across the NT.

What we did

  • Inform remote communities: Our teams travelled across the Territory to talk about the 2024 Territory Election directly with people in remote communities.
  • Prepare remote communities to vote: We assisted people in updating their enrolments or enrolling for the first time, ensuring everyone is ready to cast their formal vote. We provided details on where, when, and how to vote.
  • Collaborate with communities: We talked with local groups and people in remote communities to find the best ways to tell everyone about the election.

The 19-week engagement and education program that started in April 2024 visited over 70 remote communities, with the last visit and engagement at the Garma Festival.

The 19-week program saw over 1700 enrolment checks, over 150 enrolment updates, over 80 new enrolments and over 260 engagements with stakeholder groups.

How you can help

You can join us in spreading the word about the 2024 Territory Election and the Remote Community Engagement program.

Here's how:

  • Share our downloadable resources like posters, social media posts, videos, and flyers from our remote community stakeholder pack.
  • Organise meetings in your area to discuss the election and its significance.
  • Talk to your friends, family, and community about the election and encourage them to participate.
