Electoral Expenditure returns for the 29 February Johnston by-election for registered political parties and independent candidates were released by the Northern Territory Electoral Commission today.
The electoral expenditure returns have been added to the political disclosure return information for registered political parties, associated entities, third-party campaigners and candidates that were published on the website on 24 April.
“The Johnston by-election returns of electoral expenditure for the period 06 February to 30 March 2020 are now available on the NTEC website” Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan said.
The expenditure cap for the by-election was $40,000 for each candidate.
A compliance review is currently being undertaken on disclosure and expenditure returns from the Johnston by-election.
The purpose of the review is to verify that all donations and electoral expenditure have been accurately reported. The findings from the review will be made public.
The expenditure cap, which will be the same for each electorate in the 2020 Territory Election, was introduced as part of the amendments to the Electoral Act which came into force on January 1.
