The Northern Territory Electoral Commission has revised early voting centre hours and the remote mobile voting schedule for the 2021 Local Government Elections following the 3-day COVID-19 lockdown in the Darwin and Katherine regions.
Early voting centres in Alice Springs, Casuarina, Coolalinga, Darwin, Palmerston and Tennant Creek will be open today from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
The voting centre in Katherine remains closed and will open if the lockdown is lifted tomorrow.
All voting centres, with the exeption of Tennant Creek which remains unchanged, will open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays until Friday 27 August. Katherine is scheduled to open from 12:00 noon tomorrow.
This weekend, 21 and 22 August, early voting centres will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, except for Tennant Creek which is only in operation from Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August, 8:00 am to 4:15 pm.
The schedule for 9 remote mobile voting locations have also been revised as a result of the lockdown. The revised schedules are available on the NTEC website here.
Community voting centre times have been mostly unaffected by the lockdown with the exception of Wadeye. Voting in Wadeye will take place next week.
NT Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan said that election day on 28 August would remain.
“I wish to remind people that no matter what day they cast their vote they should remember to wear their mask and check into the voting centre via the Territory check-in app,” Mr Loganathan said.
