Electoral roll closing for 2021 Local Government Elections

Territorians have just one week left to make sure they are correctly enrolled to vote in next month's 2021 Local Government Elections.

Northern Territory Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan said the electoral roll would close at 5pm on Tuesday 27 July.

"I encourage all Territorians to ensure they are enrolled for their current address," Mr Loganathan said.

"It's easy to enrol or update your enrolment online through the NTEC website so, there really is no excuse these days for not being on the roll."

At the close of roll for the 2017 NT Local Government Elections, there were 133,927 electors enrolled to vote.

At the close of business on 19 July 2021 there were 142,615 electors enrolled to vote in the Northern Territory.

"Direct email and text message initiatives conducted by the Australian and NT electoral commissions have helped improve the accuracy of the electoral roll in the Territory," Mr Loganathan said.

"Enrolment and awareness work has been well supported by the Your Voice, Your Community campaign undertaken by Local Government and Community Development officers in remote communities."
