Results of 2021 Local Government elections declared

The Northern Territory Electoral Commission has officially declared the results of the 2021 Local Government Elections.

Declaration events held in the Top End declared the result of the elections for Belyuen Community Government Council, City of Darwin, Coomalie Community Government Council, East Arnhem Regional Council, Katherine Town Council, Litchfield Council, City of Palmerston, Roper Gulf Regional Council, Tiwi Island Regional Council, Victoria Daly Regional Council, Wagait Shire, West Arnhem Regional Council and West Daly Regional Council.

In Central Australia a declaration event was held for Barkly Regional Council, Central Desert Regional Council and Macdonnell Regional Council.

With only 17 votes separating the two leading candidates in the election for Alice Springs Mayor, the declaration of the results for the Alice Springs Town Council will be held following the re-check of the election.

The re-check will take place at the Alice Springs count centre tomorrow morning.

Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan congratulated all candidates in all elections for playing their part in the democratic process.

“To all newly and returned councillors and aldermen across the Territory, I wish them well in their endeavours during their term in office,” Mr Loganathan said.

“I would also like to thank all the local government councils, the Local Government Association of the NT and the NT Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development for all their help conducting the elections.”
