The Northern Territory Electoral Commission has today declared five candidates for the Alice Springs Town Council by-election.
At 1 pm today, candidate positions’ on the ballot paper were drawn by a random number generator at the Andy McNeill room, Alice Springs Town Council.
Candidates for the Alice Springs Town Council by-election, in order of the ballot paper draw are as follows:
There is one vacancy for position of councillor in the Alice Springs Town Council by-election.
Early voting will be available for one week commencing 9.00am, Saturday 22 October at the Alice Springs Town Council, Andy McNeill room.
Election day is Saturday 29 October with six voting centre locations available including, the Andy McNeill room, Blatherskite Park, Braitling Primary School, Centralian Secondary College, Gillen Primary School and Living Waters Lutheran School.
The Acting NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly is reminding Alice Springs electors to submit a postal vote application now, if they are unable to vote in person at an early voting centre or election day voting centre.
“With election day fast approaching, I would like to remind Alice Springs electors who are unable to attend a voting centre to apply now to ensure they receive their postal pack in time for the by-election” Ms Kelly said.
Voting in Alice Springs Town Council by-election is compulsory.
