Alice Springs Town Council by-election announced

The Alice Springs Town Council by-election has been announced and Election Day will be Saturday 29 October.

All potential Alice Springs electors should check they are correctly enrolled before the roll closes at 5pm Tuesday 11 October.

Early voting for the by-election will be for a one week period commencing at  93 Todd St, Alice Springs Town Council (campaigning allowed) at the following dates and times:

  • Saturday 22 October - 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Monday 24 October to Thursday 27 October - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Friday 28 October - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Electoral Commissioner Iain Loganathan is reminding Alice Springs electors to submit a postal vote application now if they are unable to vote in person at an early voting centre or on Election Day.

“Electors in Alice Springs can apply now to ensure they receive the postal pack for the by-election.”

“The NT Electoral Commission will commence the despatch of postal voting packs following the declaration of candidate nominations which will take place on Friday 14 October. The first mail out to postal voters will be from Monday 17 October” Mr Loganathan said.

The NT Electoral Commission are working closely with the Alice Springs Town Council to encourage voter participation in the by-election.

“Recognising the low voter turnout in recent elections we are increasing communications to raise awareness to support participation in the Alice Springs Town Council by-election” Mr Loganathan said.

Voting in Alice Springs Town Council by-election is compulsory.
