2024 Territory Election: The countdown begins

Today marks one year until the 2024 Territory Election day.

The election will shape the future of the Territory, highlighting the essential role of voter participation in the election process.

Currently there are 152,110 electors on the roll in the Northern Territory, this compares to 141,225 at the 2020 Territory Election. Recent enrolment efforts by the Australian Electoral Commission in the lead up to the Voice referendum has seen many remote electors added to the roll.

The increase in enrolment numbers in the Northern Territory is a positive step for our democracy. It is important that Territorians exercise their democratic right to vote, both in the upcoming Voice referendum and the Territory Election next year.

Iain Loganathan, NT Electoral Commissioner, is pleased by the increase in electoral enrolment in the Northern Territory, however he is urging newly enrolled electors to ensure they vote come election time.

“We have more Territorians on the electoral roll than ever before and this should be celebrated” said Iain Loganathan.

“It is essential for our democracy that all Territorians are not only enrolled but participate in the upcoming 2024 Territory Election”.

The NT Electoral Commission will deliver a communication and engagement campaign in the lead up to the 2024 Territory Election. This will ensure that Territorians are informed and ready to make their vote count.

The public can check and update their enrolment via the Australian Electoral Commission website.
