Arafura by-election: Final day of voting and counting to commence

Tomorrow is the final day of voting in the Arafura by-election.

The final day of polling will be at Jabiru Community Hall from 8am to 1pm.

As of 5pm Thursday 16 March, 50.25 per cent of electors have cast their vote in the by-election via postal vote, mobile voting and the early voting centre including declaration votes.

141 postal votes have been issued to electors with 19 returned. The deadline for receipt of postal votes is 12 noon on Friday 31 March.

The NT Electoral Commission has provided mobile polling at 23 Arafura communities over the past two weeks to ensure all electors have an opportunity to make sure their vote counts.

Primary counts for the Arafura by-election will commence at 6pm on Saturday 18 March at the NT Electoral Commission office.

The fresh count (re-check) of all votes counted on Saturday 18 March will commence at 10am on Monday 20 March. The final distribution of preferences will be held from 12 noon on Friday 31 March.

The progressive tally for the Arafura by-election will be published on the NT Electoral Commission website.

Voting in Arafura by-election is compulsory.
