The NT Electoral Commission has today declared candidates for the Barkly Regional Council, Alyawarr Ward and Patta Ward by-elections.
At 1:00 pm today candidate positions on the ballot paper were randomly drawn at the NT Electoral Commission office in Darwin
There are 2 vacancies for position of councillor in the Alyawarr Ward by-election and 2 candidates were declared. As the number of candidates is equal to the number of vacancies, the following 2 candidates are declared duly elected:
There are 2 vacancies for position of councillor in the Patta Ward by-election and 5 candidates have been declared.
Candidates for the Patta Ward by-election, in ballot paper order are as follows:
Early voting for Patta Ward electors will commence Saturday 29 April 2023 at the Barkly Regional Council office.
“With the voting period fast approaching, I would like to remind Patta Ward electors to plan when and where they will be voting” said Iain Loganathan, NT Electoral Commissioner.
“For electors who are unable to attend a voting service I encourage them to apply now for a postal vote for the by-election or contact the NT Electoral Commission to discuss their options.”
Voting is compulsory.
