City of Darwin, Lyons Ward by-election: Declaration of election result

Under the proportional representation voting system the quota required to be elected was 3,050. No candidates received quota on first preference votes.

A distribution of the first preference votes of excluded candidates receiving the fewest votes was undertaken in accordance with Schedule 1 of the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations.

Following the distribution of preferences Sam Weston received the quota at count 11, and is therefore duly elected.

A formal declaration of the results for this by-election will be held at 10am on Monday 18 September at the City of Darwin, Civic Centre.
