East Arnhem Regional Council, Gumurr Miwatj Ward by-election: Initial counting last night

Initial counting in the East Arnhem Regional Council, Gumurr Miwatj Ward by-election concluded last night.

Marrpalawuy Marika leads with 110 votes, followed by Ineke Wallis with 33 votes.

All mobile votes have been counted. Nine postal votes were issued with 4 returned. 15 declaration votes were issued and once verified will be added to the count.

Remaining postal votes must be received by the NT Electoral Commission by 12 noon on Thursday 18 May 2023.

Based on last night’s counts, 148 of the 1,538 eligible electors voted in the by-election. This represents 9.6 per cent of the Gumurr Miwatj Ward.

A fresh scrutiny of last night’s count will commence at 10.00am on Monday 8 May 2023.
