West Arnhem Regional Council, Kakadu Ward by-election: Counting finished for the night

Counting in the West Arnhem Regional Council, Kakadu Ward by-election has finished for the night.

The results from the initial count are as follows (in ballot paper order):

• Mickitja Onus with 83 votes
• Charlotte Meneer with 52 votes

All mobile votes have been counted this includes votes cast today.

25 postal votes were issued with 8 votes returned and a further 17 votes to be returned to the NT Electoral Commission over the next 13 days, in addition to 10 declaration votes to be verified and possibly added to the count. 3 early votes were taken at the early voting centre (NTEC office) these votes will be counted with the postal and declaration votes.

All votes counted tonight will be recounted at the fresh scrutiny on Monday 11 September from 10am.

Initial counts for postal, early and declaration votes will occur after the deadline for return of postal votes at 12pm on Friday 28 July.
