West Arnhem Regional Council - Gunbalanya Ward by-election: Declaration of result

The Northern Territory Electoral Commission has officially declared the result for the West Arnhem Regional Council – Gunbalanya Ward by-election.

A fresh scrutiny of the ballot papers counted on Saturday night was conducted this morning at 10:00 am and Mr Gabby Gumurdul received 303 first preference votes (70.8%) of the total 428 formal votes. As there were only 2 candidates in this election, and only 41 postal votes and declaration votes yet to be admitted to the count, this by-election can be declared early.

The declaration of results for this by-election was held at the NTEC Darwin office at 3:00 pm this afternoon where Mr Gabby Gumurdul was declared duly elected.
