The Groote Archipelago Regional Council election has been announced, with 7 councillor vacancies to be filled.
Candidate nominations are now open and will close at 12 noon on Thursday 3 October, no late nominations will be accepted.
The NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly is encouraging anyone who is interested in nominating as a candidate to make sure they are aware of the nomination process and eligibility requirements.
"There are a number of resources available to potential candidates on our website and I encourage anyone who is interested to contact the NT Electoral Commission for more information,” Kirsten Kelly said.
“I also recommend anyone thinking of nominating to be a candidate to contact Allan McGill at Groote Archipelago Regional Council on 0438 822 505 to discuss the role and responsibilities of a councillor.”
Remote voting for the Groote Archipelago Regional Council election will take place from Monday 21 October, at the remote voting centres listed below until Saturday 26 October, and at the Darwin at the NT Electoral Commission Office.

All residents in the Groote Archipelago Regional Council area should check they are correctly enrolled before the roll closes at 5pm on 24 September.
The NT Electoral Commission is working closely with the Groote Archipelago Regional Council to raise awareness and encourage voter participation in the election.
