2024 Groote Archipelago Regional Council Election: Rescheduled

The 2024 Groote Archipelago Regional Council election day, scheduled for Saturday 26 October 2024, has been changed to Saturday 15 March 2025.

The Minister for Local Government, Community Development and Housing has changed the date for the general election under section 160 of the Local Government Act 2019 and regulation 72 of the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2021.

The change has been made to allow for community consultation.

The NT Electoral Commissioner is the returning officer and responsible for the conduct of the election in accordance with the Act and electoral regulations.

The 22 candidates declared for the election will remain candidates for this election. The NT Electoral Commission has commenced contacting all candidates and community stakeholders to advise them of the changes to the election timetable.

25 postal votes have been issued with no early votes cast in the election. The remote voting services scheduled to start today will be rescheduled to March 2025. The community will be notified of the changes to the election dates including details of voting services to be provided.
