2024 Territory Election - Declaration of election results

The declaration of the election results for the 2024 Territory election will take place at 10am on Monday 9 September 2024.

Today, counting of declaration votes admitted to the count will commence at scrutiny centres in Darwin and Alice Springs. This follows the completion of an enrolment entitlement review of over 1,900 declaration envelopes by the Australian Electoral Commission and the concurrent compliance check of declaration envelopes by the NT Electoral Commission. 

Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly stated that as the deadline for the receipt of postal votes approaches, the NT Electoral Commission will prepare to conduct recounts for any closely contested divisions and to commence the distribution of preferences for divisions with more than 2 candidates.

So far, over 5,300 postal votes have been admitted to the count with a further 1,716 to be returned and potentially added to the count. A final count of postal votes will occur after the deadline, which is 12 noon on Friday 6 September 2024.
