2024 Groote Archipelago Regional Council Election: Declaration of nominations

The NT Electoral Commission has today declared candidates for the Groote Archipelago Regional Council Election.

At 12:00 noon today, candidate positions on the ballot paper were randomly drawn at the NT Electoral Commission office in Darwin.

There are 7 vacancies for position of councillor in the Groote Archipelago Regional Council Election. 22 candidates were declared.

Voting services will be provided at the following times and locations:

• Monday 21 October  - Milyakburra Council Office
• Tuesday 22 October – Umbakumba Library
• Wednesday 23 October - Umbakumba Library
• Thursday 24 October – Malkala Community 9:30am-10:30am
• Thursday 24 October – Angurugu Sports and Recreation Hall
• Friday 25 October - Angurugu Sports and Recreation Hall
• Saturday 26 October - Angurugu Sports and Recreation Hall

To accommodate electors unable to vote in person, postal vote applications are now open and will close at the following times:

• Overseas postal vote applications - 6pm on Tuesday 22 October 2024
• Domestic postal vote applications - 6pm on Thursday 24 October 2024

Early voting is available at the NT Electoral Commission Darwin office weekdays from Monday 14 October to Friday 25 October.

“With the voting period fast approaching, I would like to remind the residents in the Groote Archipelago Regional Council area to plan when and where they will be voting. Electors wanting more information can contact the NT Electoral Commission office for assistance,” said NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly.
