Early voting began yesterday with over 7,400 Territorians participating in the 2024 Territory Election, an increase of approximately 1,000 compared to the first day of voting in the 2020 Territory Election.
There are 153,250 Territorians on the electoral roll at the close of roll.
10 early voting locations are now open across the Territory with voting options available in all regional and some rural centres.
The NT Electoral Commissioner, Kirsten Kelly, emphasised that Territorians can vote at any early voting centre across the Territory without needing to provide a reason for voting early.
“It doesn’t matter which division you are enrolled in, you can visit any early voting centre across the Territory to cast your vote. Election staff will be able to locate your division and provide you with the correct ballot paper.”
Remote mobile voting also commenced yesterday, with teams visiting 9 communities.
The first mail out of postal votes took place on Sunday with over 6,200 posts votes issued. Postal vote applications are open, and Territorians are encouraged to apply now to ensure they receive their postal vote in time.
