2024 Territory Election: Voting closed, count begins

Voting in the 2024 Territory Election officially closed at 6pm today.

Counting will now commence at scrutiny centres in Darwin and Alice Springs and at all election day voting centres across the Territory.

Results will be progressively updated on the NT Electoral Commission website.

Scrutiny centres will count early votes, and remote and urban mobile votes. Election day voting centres will count the votes cast today. All counting will conclude at 11pm tonight.

Counting of postal votes and any counts not commenced on election night will commence from 10am tomorrow at the scrutiny centres.

NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly says the count period has now commenced and will continue to 6 September, which is the deadline for receipt of postal votes and final count before the distribution of preferences.

“On Monday a check count or fresh scrutiny will commence recounting all ballot papers counted on election day. During the count period absent votes, declaration votes and postal votes will also be counted,” Commissioner Kelly said.
