2026 Regional Councils by-elections - July - Candidate nominations now open
In accordance with Regulation 6(2) Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2021, a public notice is provided.
By-elections are being held to fill casual vacancies in the following regional Councils:
- West Arnhem Regional Council - Warruwi Ward (1 vacancy)
- Groote Archipelago Regional Council - East Ward (1 vacancy)
Nominations
Nominations are now open. Completed candidate nomination forms must be received by NTEC by 12pm Wednesday 15 July. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

The Electoral Commissioner is the returning officer for the 2026 Regional Council By-elections - July.
