Associated entities

An associated entity is an entity that is controlled by one or more registered parties or operates wholly or to a significant extent for the benefit of one or more registered party.

Associated entities must register with the Commission. Registrations must be received by the Commission no less than 5 days before an election.

During an election associated entities have reporting obligations including gift returns.  Any electoral expenditure by an associated entity is to be aggregated with the electoral expenditure by the registered party with which the entity is associated.  Routine reports including annual returns and gift returns will continue in a general election year.
