Third parties

Third party campaigners are a person or entity that incurs or expects to incur more than $1000 of political expenditure during the capped expenditure period (1 January 2024 to 23 September). Political expenditure is expenditure incurred in promoting or opposing a candidate or a registered party.

Third party campaigners are required to register for each election. Registrations must be received by the Commission no less than 5 days before an election.

During an election third party campaigners have reporting obligations including disclosure of political expenditure and donation disclosure where gifts are used for political expenditure.
