Voting is compulsory in all government elections in the Northern Territory. Voter turnout based on votes counted in the August 2025 Local Government Elections was 55.8% compared to 61.3% in the 2021 Local Government Elections. The NT Electoral roll has increased by 12,390 electors (8.7%) since the 2021 elections.

All counting has concluded for the 2025 Local Government Supplementary Elections.

Counting has commenced for the 2025 Supplementary elections with early, remote and election day votes being counted.

Today is the last opportunity to vote early in the 2025 Local Government Supplementary Elections for the Litchfield Council (North Ward) and West Arnhem Regional Council (Gunbalanya and Kakadu Wards).

The Northern Territory Electoral Commission (NTEC) has today declared the candidates for the 2025 Local Government Supplementary Elections and conducted the draw for the ballot paper order.

Nominations for the 2025 Local Government Supplementary Elections are closing on Thursday 6 November 2025 at 12:00 pm. Late nominations cannot be accepted.
